Malco Tools, Inc. the nation’s leading manufacturer of high-quality, American-made tools for professional use, announced that Don Schmidt, its former executive vice president, was recently appointed as chairman of Malco Tools’ board of directors. Schmidt assumes the role from Paul Keymer, who served as board chairman since 1996.
Schmidt retired from Malco in 2014 after holding a variety of positions with the company over his 42-year career. He served as national sales manager, director of sales and promotion and vice president of sales and marketing, and for 18 years he served as executive vice president.
“The later stages of my career at Malco saw some of the most defining changes for the company, and I’m excited to build on that success as board chairman,” Schmidt says.
During his tenure at Malco, Schmidt was instrumental in transforming company culture as a member of steering committees that formalized processes for manufacturing and resource planning, new product development and product customization. He also led initiatives for global growth and spearheaded efforts to diversify the company’s markets and product lines.
