Malco Tools, Inc. Recognized for Commitment to Safety

ANNANDALE, MINN. (May 6, 2021) — Malco Tools, Inc. was recognized for excellence in workplace safety and health during the 2021 Virtual Minnesota Safety and Health Conference, May 4-5.

Malco earned the 2020 Meritorious Achievement Award in Occupational Safety, and is one of 221 employers to be honored through the 2021 awards program coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council.

“We take pride in creating a safe, healthy and productive workplace for each of our employees, and are honored to once again be recognized by the Minnesota Safety Council,” said Malco President Rich Benninghoff. “By designing innovative, ergonomic tools, Malco is also committed to extending that safety culture to our customers.”

The annual Governor’s Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance since 1934. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with national industry statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program.

Malco, which has earned recognition through the program 13 times since 2004, received recognition for incident numbers that are better than the industry average, and for high scores on a rigorous safety program evaluation scale.

“In a year that has challenged all of us in ways we never imagined, we are very pleased to recognize Malco Tools, Inc. for their award,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Safety demands extraordinary attention in a normal year, double that attention this past year. Thank you, Malco, for keeping your employees safe.”

Malco is also proud to be certified through the Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (MNSHARP) for working with management and employees to develop safety and health programs that go beyond basic compliance with applicable OSHA standards for long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses.

The Minnesota Safety Council, founded in 1928, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Minnesota by preventing unintentional injuries. Malco has been a member of the Council for over 30 years.
