Celebrating Our Community of Volunteers

14th April 2023 • Categories: Malco Company

Last year at this time on the Tool Talk blog, we unveiled our “Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good.” campaign, with a heavy emphasis on the Do Good portion of the program. As we get ready to mark National Volunteer Week here at Malco headquarters, we’re proud of the ways our associates and company have shown up in our community in the past year and are excited for upcoming opportunities.

Malco has always encouraged and established volunteer initiatives and community outreach efforts to get more involved and engaged in our local area, with a special focus on our hometown of Annandale, Minn. From participating in community events to getting involved with local schools, we’re always looking for more ways we can give back to our community.

Here are a few of the activities we participated in as a company this year:

Annandale’s Androids

Robots and androids unite! We were thrilled to be able to volunteer with Annandale’s First Robotics team, the Anndroids, and donate to Kimball’s VEX Robotics program, which includes 12 teams across the district’s elementary, middle and high schools.

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity

One of the Malco’s team’s favorite “do good” initiatives was volunteering with our local Habitat for Humanity organization to build homes in our community. A group of employees got to spend an afternoon building a Sabre house in the Sartell area.

In addition, some of the school districts here in Central Minnesota have partnered with the local Habitat teams to build homes onsite at the schools, and then ship the houses to their final locations. We’ve supplied tools to those programs for the student crews working on roofing, siding and gutters.

Food Drive

In March 2023, we had a food drive supporting the Kimball Area Food Shelf. Together, our team collected and donated more than 270 pounds of food and $200 to help feed our neighbors.

Community Events

Every year, our team participates and Malco sponsors Annandale’s Fourth of July celebration and parade as well as the Holiday Lights parade. These fun-filled, family friendly events are a great way to gather as a community and celebrate together.

Upcoming High School Sponsorship

We’re also looking forward to announcing an upcoming sponsorship with the Annandale High School athletics program, stay tuned for that!

Celebrating Arbor Day

The very next event we can’t wait to hold is an Arbor Day tree planning celebration. Each associate will be given a free tree to plant in the location of their choice.

Doing Good Outside of MN

However, the “Do Good” mentality doesn’t just cover Malco’s hometown address. Our community of distributors and trade professionals are also giving back, and we want to recognize their efforts as well. Two of our first-ever Exterior Building Trade Pro of the Year winners were selected in part for their dedication to community service – Jordan Cortright of Olivet, Michigan, has donated his services to various projects in his community including a dugout renovation for the youth baseball league, while Chickie McCafferty of Horsham, Pennsylvania, has donated his time and expertise to Habitat for Humanity.

Giving back and volunteering are key elements of Malco’s overall company core values. It’s one of the many reasons that our associates are proud to work here, and our customers are proud to do business with us.

Thanks to everyone on the Malco team that’s pitched in and supported their communities over the past year!
